Everyone is talking about Leadership these days. But what do you need to do to be a great leader? And what is leadership at all. Here are 5 things you need to do to be a great Leader.
From my point of view, it is about having a vision/a goal and motivating others to help you achieve this vision or goal.
Though, this leads to the following things of what you need to do to be a great leader:
- Have a vision
- Decide
- Motivate
- Delegate
- Communicate
Let’s take a closer look to each of the things you need to do to be a great leader.
Have a vision
Well, this is obvious, right. You need to know where to go. This could be a goal you have for your company or one department.
It doesn’t have to be a world changing thing. Keep it practical and achievable.
Decide
Also, very obvious. You would go anywhere if you do not decide how you are going. This is true for leadership too.
You have to decide moment by moment. But be consistent with your decisions. Keep in mind your vision/goal.
Motivate
It isn’t so hard to motivate. If you burn for your vision/goal others will catch fire easily. Though don’t try to push anyone to go for your goal.
When it’s not the other one’s vision/goal, it won’t help you to push. Be gentle like the stream of a river.
Delegate
Use the power, knowledge, and expertise of others. Delegate part of your work. It frees up time you could spend to work on achieving your vision.
Also delegating some of your work is a very motivating thing for your employees. It shows that you trust them.
Communicate
This is key. Give information to your employees as much as possible. When they are informed, they could help you even better.
Now the big question is – “Could you be a great leader?”
It is one thing to know what it needs to become a great leader. It’s something different to be it.
But it’s simpler as you think. It might not be easy all the time. But it’s simple.
